Hey, its a Modern World . . . Isn't it time you got your blog on, Joe Prescott?
A blog (n.) is basically a journal that is available on the web. I call it the "Fifth Estate." The activity of updating a blog is "blogging" and someone who keeps a blog is a "blogger." Blogs are typically updated daily using software that allows people with little or no technical background to update and maintain the blog.
We'd love to check yours out. Pick out a blog host, such as Blogger. Then email us the link to your blog here. We'll let the world know all aboutyou. It's easy!
Here's some great examples of Prescott, AZ area pioneers in blogging:
Walking Prescott - Granny J is a retired journalist and adopted Prescottonian (by way of Chicago). Everday she takes a nice, quiet stroll through this sweet old town of ours and snaps a few hundred pics. Checking in with her everyday is like a taking that walk with her: eye-opening, life-affirming, nutty in the best possible sense.
What's Rockin' at the Raven Cafe? Hey, talk about cool scenes - a cafe with a radio station in the same building (yours truly) and live shows going out over the air.
Click the birdie to find out which touring national acts or local faves are gracing the stage this week. Angie also posts feedback on shows and links to the artists.
Don't forget, you can listen in if you live in downtown Prescott. Coyote Radio is 1670 on your AM dial!
mikeb - A photoblog of truly amazing vision.
"I live in Prescott Valley, a small town in Northern Arizona, with my wife and two sons.
Most of my time is spent ministering at my church as one of the associate pastors and hanging out with my family. When I am not doing either of those I spend as much time as I can behind the camera, processing images and frequenting photoblogs and flickr. I have loved photography for many years, but it was not until 2006 that I really grew a passion for it. Buying a nicer camera and having outlets like flickr and this website have made it a larger part of my life.I am a perpetual student and continue to try and better my abilities. With that said please continue to visit the site and leave as much feedback as possible so that I can continue to grow."
Lazy Artists Lounge - One writer: typing away at a novel, two dogs underfoot, Thumb Butte in the distance, espresso machine gurgling. Its a living.
New feature - audio interviews with internationally famous crime fiction writers, recorded in Coyote Radio's Studio A, located in the Friendly Confines of The Raven Cafe.
Rowena Bead and Fiber - Vistors to Whiskey Row include many with fond memories of poking around the Bead Museum.
So many cool thingamajigs, so little hand to key coordination.
Rowena doesn't have that problem. Stand in awe of her elegant creations, mere mortals!

Prescott Arizona Video Blog - A surprising new find on the Internet, watching someone's home movies and, cue the eerie music, they are set in your hometown. "Hey, I know that tree! That's my car! " Keep watching. One of these days you're going to be the schlub who accidently walks through the background as that amazingly cute kid talks to the camera.
Gadget's Airstream Chronicles - In which our scribe/techie decides to go mobile, outfitting his old school cool RV with cyberage hardware and rolling out along life's two lanes.
Recently come to stop near Prescott's Granite Dells, Gadget gets to know the town and reports back his findings to a waiting world-wide audience.
CourierWatch - Steven Ayres, media gadfly, professional freelance proofreader and not one to let sleeping dogs take up too much acreage brings you a look inside how under-paid typists make a Word document and a jpeg into NEWS. You don't have to be a reader of the Daily Courier, Yavapai County's only daily paper, to appreciate his probing.I will say that it often makes me want to read an article I've missed to see if I agree with his take on things.
Foolsewoode - continues the proud tradition of quirky blogs by small town clothing resale store owners.
"I love to read and take bubble baths...not always at the same time. I have a strange obsession with sock monkeys, vintage kitchen linens and fabric. I am not exactly in the place I ever thought I would be in my life, and am learning to enjoy it for what it is...amidst the silly and fun...it's always seems a little different...come enjoy the journey with me..."
Happiness...not in another place but this place, not for another hour but this hour - walt whitman

Some Soldier's Mom - Let's not forget that the Quad Cities are home to many military families, veterans and vets with kids of their own in the service. While its easy enough to forget there's a war on, its effects are a day to day thing for many of our neighbors. This blog gives some glimpse of that and reaches out other families walking the same path.
"Mom of a career sailor, a hazmat guy (Navy vet), a medical student, and a 3ID soldier (WIA OIF3) with severe PTSD keeping him from his 2nd tour to Iraq. Married to a retired career Navy Officer. Got 2 big dawgs and one old cat. Also have 4 sisters and a brother. Proud PGR member."
Dagny's Desk - They used to say politics is always local. Its probably been a long time since that had any relevance. But to read Dagny is to understand a lot about folks in Arizona and the politics of our state at the local level. Recommended reading when your news all comes from national/international sources.
"I’m Dagny Gromer, welcome to my blog. I’ll be writing on things that interest me like programming, dogs, motorcycle riding, and shooting guns.
In a nutshell I’m a 50-something baby boomer, married, step grandmother of 3, software engineer/programmer/it geekette/web entrepreneur wanna-be. I live in Prescott, AZ which is a smallish city in northern Arizona. At 5300 feet of elevation, this is not Phoenix or Tuscon."
Vision in Time - Edward Registrato is not only an astoundingly good photographer; his versatility adds to the astounding and what does that give you? Double astounding? Astounding(x2)? Hard to say. But also hard to describe without hyperbole. Maybe the bushmen were right. Maybe photography captures a little of the soul. If you're doing it right.
Prescott Wildland/Urban Interface - Regional Alert Info - The most absolutely up to date information about emergencies, in particular wildfires. This is where the newspaper, radio and, if we had a t.v. station, get their breaking information from.

Random Roger - He's just a smalltown stockbroker who, let's face it, loves to talk shop. Any idea what he' talking about?
Let me put it this way. Roger will not be working the overnite at Wal-mart 40 years from now.
Not all of us can say that.
The One Acre Wood - Linda, self-described as . . . "a perennially optimistic, Pooh shaped woman clinging to a semblance of the country life, on an acre a few blocks from the mall, in Prescott, Arizona," takes you on a walk through the simple pleasures (and terrors) of small town life in "Everyone's Hometown."
The Singing Bird Blog - She's off to China at the moment, meeting her newly adopted child. I look forward to her return and sharing a whole new slew of life experiences in the weeks and months ahead.

I enjoy reading, travel, lowbrow art, ice hockey and a strong cup of java. Currently, I am teaching myself to sew and speakFrench. I'm not very good at either...yet."

And by this, I don't mean just to find out these answers. Gail's working own her way through to answers about her Mother and herself in every post. I mean you have to read her journal after you start. Its that readable and that compelling.
"As a retired businessman and former Prescott Valley Councilman, I have insite as to the way the town of Prescott Valley “Really” works. My personal political viewpoint is “We the People” politics as envisioned by our Founding Fathers in 1789. Mr. Thomas Jefferson reportedly answered a citizen outside Freedom Hall in Philidelphia; “Mr. Jefferson, what kind of a government do we have” ? Jefferson said; ” A represenitive republic if YOU can keep it”.
That is out-tasked today as well. We lead busy and stressful lives and politics is, well; more stress. However, Prescott Valley is run by a very wealthy family through anointed, appointed and selected - elected officials. In addition, we have a local media (press and radio) that ignores most opposition to the Ruling Class.
Therefor, the need for ‘Rest of the story” or the rest of the truth because you will NOT read all of it in the Daily Courier nor the Prescott Valley Tribune. The Truth P V intends to provide additional facts and opinions that the Ruling Class rejects."
"Steve is a guy in a small town in Arizona who tries to think once in a while. It doesn't always work, though."
